“Crafting Voices” podcast series releases 7th episode

The seventh episode of the “Crafting Voices: Podcasts on Migration and Communication” series, produced as part of the Voice of Migration: Future Communicators Erasmus+ Project, has been released.

The guest of this episode, titled “Media Representation of Muslim Communities: Perspectives from Palermo”, is Antonina Albanese, a migration and international cooperation expert from Italy.

The podcast episode explored the representation of Muslim communities in Italy’s mainstream media, with a particular focus on the case of Palermo. The episode also examined the role of media narratives in shaping public perceptions of Islam and Muslim communities, stereotypes and disinformation concerning religious and cultural practices, the challenges communities face in dealing with misinformation and hate speech on social media, and the importance of enabling communities to share their own stories and experiences directly.

By bringing together experts from diverse backgrounds in the fields of migration and communication, the Crafting Voices podcast series aims to provide young communicators with new perspectives on media literacy, ethical journalism, and inclusive communication.
